Mike now calls Los Angeles, California home but still considers himself a country boy.
He cherishes the memories of growing up in Bendigo, in country Victoria, where kids can still ride their bikes to school by themselves.
Mike began his journalistic career straight out of high school. His first job was as a “copy boy” at the Bendigo Advertiser where his father was a printer for 40 years.
Mike went on to complete a four-year cadetship before moving to Southern Cross TV in Gippsland, the Ballarat Courier and Channel 7 in Melbourne, where he spent six years before being assigned to the United States in 2000.
Mike transferred to Sydney in 2006 as a newsreader but returned to the US a year later.
When not jetting around the US and the world covering major news events, Mike lives with his American wife Tracy and son Addison in Malibu.
Apart from his family and friends, his next biggest passion is the Richmond Football Club (that’s Aussie rules for the Americans).
He just hopes he lives long enough to see them win their next premiership!
Mike’s son Addison.
